Students should be aware of their rights and responsibilities as users of copyrighted materials. The student copyright guidelines in the document “BriefNOTES: Copyright for Students” is listed to help students make good choices when using copyrighted material in multimedia projects, research papers, presentations, etc. This is a summary of the U.S. copyright law (Title 17) and copyright guidelines. This handout does not constitute legal opinion. It is intended to be a general discussion and not a definitive analysis of copyright.
